Dominick Miele was born in New York City on August 15, 1909. At the age of fourteen, Miele moved to Europe with his parents, where he unsuccessfully attempted to join a music conservatory. He returned to the United States in 1927 and lived in the Bronx, New York. On January 28, 1941, Miele was drafted into the United States Army; he joined Company M of the 47th Infantry Regiment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in early February, and trained at Fort Bragg until October 1942, when he w...
